Found Myself-A Star Is Born

Found Myself-A Star Is Born

When I first heard this song “Found Myself” by Venice Qin last night, it made me sleepless. The song is now officially live on Spotify and iTunes, and this is such a big deal for her. I was touched in ways I can’t explain easily. Have you ever lost in your life? I think everyone has, at some stage and in some ways. Me and family are so proud of her. Never stop singing, you are such a confident and talented young lady OMG.

I kept playing this song today, it got me goosebumps every time and brought me the light and peace to my heart,  even for a middle aged man. It also reminds me the days in New Zealand; having left the country for nearly 10 years, the memory and friendship are always there, just like yesterday, although the clean and green image of the country are fading.

We met and knew Venice and her family when she was in daycare and my daughter Jiayi went to the same one. Together with another girl Emily and her family, very soon those three girls became indivisible, so does three families. While browsing the pictures, the countless moments surfaced in my mind, they are so fresh, full of joy …  whenever whoever the birthday was, they always sit together; remember once they cut each other’s hair at Emily’s house while adults were having fun, they were only 4 at that time…

Now three girls are becoming fabulous young ladies, they are uniquely excellent, and ready to embrace their tomorrow. They are in three different countries, but they are still the best friends, and will be forever, it is truly amazing, isn’t it?

Today is also the birthday for my son Alvin and my nephew Shudi who is studying at NorthWest University in China. I wish them happy, strong and confident.

Fundraising for Dominican Republic Service Trip

Fundraising for Dominican Republic Service Trip

Hi there! I’m Jiayi Li, a grade 11 student from WPGA. This year, I have been chosen as one of the 20 students in my school to go to the Dominican Republic to teach children who live in an impoverished community. The lack of educational opportunities leave the children unprepared for the challenges they will face in the future. A shocking statistic to me was the fact that many children are forced to leave school by 12 to help support their families- this just reminds me of how privileged I am to be in my position, and how we often take the small things for granted. My peers and I will be volunteering with an organization called Outreach360, and they’ve been working with the Dominican Republic since 1994. I am very grateful to be in the position to be able to help, and one of my goals and responsibilities is to raise $1000 USD to donate to the organization. Outreach360 is a grassroots organization that relies on people like me to keep on running, and is not funded by the government. I would greatly appreciate it if you are willing to make a donation to help educate some of the poorest youth in the world. The link to my donation page and Outreach 360’s website is down below. Thank you so much for helping me on this amazing journey!

My Profile Image

Finally, I rebuilt my site. It took longer than I expected, but I finally did it thanks to the powerful WordPress. When I showed it to my friends the other day, someone suggested I should have a personal image on my site for the sake of business. I took their advice however I didn’t realize I would encounter any difficulty until I was trying to find my personal photos. Wow, I have taken so many pictures of my family, friends and the places I have visited in these years, but really, there are almost none of just myself. I was either with others or wearing sunglasses. Here is the one I took in May 3rd,2003 at Muriwai Beach in Auckland. The me in the picture is 10 years younger than me now, and I am sorry for that!
